Composite Fillings

Mercury-free. Tooth-colored. Always.

Dr. Williams places only composite fillings: no silver, no mercury, no metal-grey smiles.

Composite Fillings

Why we choose composite over amalgam

Traditional amalgam fillings have a greyish, metallic appearance and contain mercury. Dr. Williams chooses not to use amalgam at all: every filling we place is a tooth-colored composite, carefully shaded to blend with your natural teeth.

Cavities are usually discovered during routine exams, which is exactly the point of keeping them: a small, newly forming cavity never becomes a large one. When a filling is needed, the decayed area is removed, the tooth is prepared, and the composite is sculpted, cured and polished in a single visit.

Many longtime patients also choose to replace old, failing amalgam fillings with composite, both for appearance and to restore teeth with fresh, well-bonded material. Dr. Williams can evaluate your existing fillings at your next exam and tell you honestly whether replacement makes sense.
